Overview
Phu Quoc national park is located in the east of Phu Quoc island in Bai Thom, Cua Duong and Ham Ninh communes of Phu Quoc island district, Kien Giang province. This is the largest forest in the south remaining intact the primitive old forest.
About Phu Quoc national park
From Duong Dong town, follow Duong Dong - Ham Ninh route, visitors will come to Ham Ninh commune. From here, going up to the north of the island about 10km, visitors will arrive at Phu Quoc national park.
With a total area of over 31,422ha, Phu Quoc national park is divided into 3 functional subdivisions: strict protection subdivision (8,786 ha), ecological restoration subdivision (22,603 ha) and administrative - service - scientific research subdivision (33ha).
Besides a rich flora, the fauna here is also diverse including: 30 species of animals, of which 5 species are recorded in the Vietnam Red Book: forest wolf, white monkey, gibbon pille, etc; 200 species of birds with 4 species are listed in IUCN Red List and 3 species recorded in Vietnam Red Book; 50 species of reptiles, of which 9 species are listed in IUCN List and 18 species recorded in Red Book in the country.
The sea part of Phu Quoc national park is also very diverse with coral reefs of different shapes and sizes. There are nearly 100 hard corals, nearly 20 soft corals and 62 seaweed species. In addition, fish fauna in marine reefs is also abundant with species of grouper, butterflyfish and some other species, in which there are some very important and rare species: mussel clams, female snail, tortoise, dugong, etc.
With rich forest and marine ecosystems, Phu Quoc national park is one of the biodiversity centers of our country. Currently, Phu Quoc national park is being preserved, developed and continued to propagate and collect endangered wild and precious animal species.
Visit Phu Quoc national park
Coming to Phu Quoc national park, visitors have come to an attractive ecotourism environment. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in tours within 4 hours to conquer and explore Mount Nui Chua at an altitude of 565m - considered the roof of Phu Quoc, on Ham Ninh mountain range. Standing on the top of Nui Chua, visitors can feel the joy of victory and watch the vast space. Looking down from here, the national park looks like a painting.
Besides that, the national park is also adorned by the white, pure stream originating from Ham Ninh range such as: Tranh stream, Da Ban stream and Da Ngon stream, etc. In which, the most tourist destination is probably the beautiful natural scenery where the Da Ngon stream with 7-storey high waterfall flows day and night without fatigue.
Here, in addition to visitors are watching the charming natural landscape, immersed in the clear blue sea at the beautiful and pristine beaches such as Duong beach, Thom beach, or leaning back on the rocks flat to listen to the murmuring stream, birds chirping, and enjoy the faint scent of the forest orchids along the stream, visitors can also go sightseeing, camping, fishing and enjoy the specialties here such as: sim wine, barbecues and broiled fish.
