Overview
Phu Quoc International Airport was built in Duong To commune, about 5 km from the center of Duong Dong town to the south, Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang province, Vietnam with a total planning area of 904.55 ha.
The scale of Phu Quoc International Airport
Phu Quoc international airport was built to meet the level 4E of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with a runway of 45m x 3000m, a parallel taxiway of 23m x 3000m, air traffic control stations, aircraft parking yards having 6-8 parking rooms for aircraft A 320- A 321 at peak hours with an area of 60000 sq meters; passenger terminal and access road to the station has an area of 24,000 sq meters, serving capacity of 2.65 million passengers / year; have equipment to control flying command and other technical items. According to the plan until 2030, Phu Quoc International Airport will be able to receive 20 aircrafts during peak hours, the volume of goods through the airport is 27,600 tons / year, the capacity of 7 million passengers / year.
At the time of 2006, at least three large US, German and British corporations registered to survey and participate in construction. The total investment of construction of HCC road, taxiway is nearly 1,500 billion VND, the project of passenger terminal and auxiliary works is over 1,567 billion VND.
The total investment by 2020 is about VND 8,050 billion and by 2030 is VND 16,200 billion. The project is invested by the Southern Airport Corporation, now the Vietnam Airport Corporation with 100% of its capital.
Oriented development
Phu Quoc International Airport will contribute to develop Phu Quoc island into a center of international and regional eco-tourism, resort and tourism. Together with Can Tho International Airport, Phu Quoc International Airport will help the Mekong Delta region connect directly with cities in Asia.
The project aims to bring Phu Quoc into an economic and tourist administrative zone, a financial and banking center and an important national and international transport hub.

Passenger terminal
Passenger terminal has a total floor area of 24,325 sq m, serving capacity of 2.65 million passengers / year; have equipment to control flying command and other technical items.
With the aim of creating a clear coherent chain to maximize comfort and convenience for passengers, the two functional areas of the station are separated and located on both sides of the station premises. The international terminal is located in the eastern half and the remaining half of the west is located in a domestic station.
Phu Quoc International Airport plays an important role as a bridge connecting Phu Quoc with other regions in the country as well as the cities in the world. It makes the way to Phu Quoc for tourists not far anymore.
